For anyone looking for a great story, here is a reading of "Abuela's Weave" by by Omar S. Castañeda and illustraded by Enrique O Sanchez. The story takes place in Guatemala and tells the story of a girl an her abuela and their family traditions of making Mayan tapestries. I hope you enjoy the story!

María tenía una llamita
Here's another great short story about a girl named María who lives somewhere in the Andean region of South America. I love this story because it is a retelling of a classic nursery rhyme paired with some beautiful Peruvian inspired illustrations. |

Come make empanadas with me!
Empanadas are a staple food in many South American countries. I had my first empanada when I was living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They are small hand pies that can be filled with a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables. In Argentina, each region has their own type of empanada they enjoy making and eating. Today, I made some vegetarian black bean and corn empanadas. |
